For years, I’ve been serving in the community, joining missions, helping in events, and giving my time wherever I could. But our mission in Quezon was something different. It opened my eyes to what service truly means. Before, I saw service as something enjoyable and fulfilling, but I didn’t fully understand its deeper, spiritual purpose. Now I realize that service and holiness are deeply connected, one cannot exist fully without the other.
Before saying yes to the Quezon mission, I made sure my heart was ready. I had confession, I went to adoration, attended Mass, and continued to have a consistent prayer time. I wanted to serve not out of obligation or excitement, but out of love for God because He deserves to be served with a pure heart, expecting nothing in return. This is where God spoke to me.
True holiness isn’t just about prayer or devotion. It’s about letting God’s love move us to action. When we serve others, we bring Christ’s presence to life, through our talks, our worships, our sharings and even the smallest tasks. Every act of service becomes a reflection of God’s grace working through us.
And at the same time, true service draws its strength from holiness. Without prayer and humility, our service can easily become empty or self-centered. Holiness keeps our intentions pure, reminding us that we serve not for recognition, but out of love for God, and for the people He calls us to serve.
We are called to strive to live a Holy life, and to serve with a Holy heart for Christ.
