COOL = CATHOLIC?

Wait a minute, you say.

How in the world can cool relate to Catholic?!

Before any prejudices, before any argumentations, before having your head explode with opinions regarding the audacity of it all…

Hear this out:

It is cool to be Catholic. YOU are cool because you are Catholic. You have around 1 billion brothers and sisters in Christ that share the same cool beliefs as you do. You have a lot of unseen guardians…angels that protect and guide…saints that intercede for the most ardent requests of the heart. You share a body of beliefs that has spanned centuries, has seen kingdoms built and kingdoms fall. You have Mama Mary praying for you and inspiring you by her holy life to love God more each day. And the coolest reason why you are privileged to be Catholic? Three unique Persons of power in one awesome God: God the Father, who is not only the Creator but a personal Dad to you; Jesus, the only Son of God, who loves you so much that He died on the cross to save you from sin; God the Holy Spirit, who in every step you take, inspires and ignites the fire within you to be not just good but holy.

yfl cool catholicsIf only you seek the vastness of the Catholic faith! Then there wouldn’t be any prejudices. There won’t be argumentations. There won’t be heads exploding with opinions regarding the audacity of it all.

You simply know you are cool because you are Catholic.

And you are proud to be.

The Spotlight

From Womb to Tomb

Just like celebrating birthdays, receiving the sacraments should be worth throwing a party for! As Catholics, these are the important milestones of the Christian life. St Thomas Aquinas said that “they give birth and increase healing and mission to the Christian’s life of faith.” Furthermore, St. Agustin defines the sacraments as “outward and visible signs of an inward and spiritual grace.” So go ahead, be excited to undergo each stage…with a burst of confetti and a shower of balloons! (This series excludes the Eucharist which will have a separate section)

Jesus League

The Dream Team. The League of Extraordinary Ladies and Gentlemen. Attach to them a lot of titles and descriptions but to put it simply, we all know them to be called saints. These canonized heroes of the faith explicitly loved God, each in their own unique way. This series will focus on a particular saint in each issue; saints we may know…saints we are still bound to discover.

On Bended Knees

“Prayer is the life of the new heart. It ought to animate us every moment. Prayer is a remembrance of God often awakened by the memory of the heart.” Catechism of the Catholic Church

Other than the Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be, the Catholic faith is blessed with the richness of prayers and rituals we don’t too often hear about. How cool it is indeed to be on bended knees before the majestic King!

Super Book!

The book that has conquered the bestseller’s list for years and years—The Holy Bible. Some may regard it is cryptic but open its pages, take the Word into heart and your life will never be the same again. There are reasons why a certain book was written and why certain stories of the faith can be unearthed in each chapter. This is what you will know as you read up on this series.

There’s Something About Mary!

No this is not about Cameron Diaz and her funny movie. This gives the spotlight to Mary, the Mother of God, the Virgin of Virgins, The Queen of Heaven. On a personal level, we call her Mama Mary, our mother. As Catholics, a big part of our faith constitutes knowing and honoring The Virgin Mary. This series will take you onto a pilgrimage of faith with no less than our Mother Most Holy. She has her hands outstretched, inviting you to start the journey. Will you?

We Believe

The richness of the Catholic faith explained in tidbits. In this series, the different points of our faith will be discussed.
