Did you know that we cannot receive the Holy Communion when we are in a state of mortal sin?
Since the Body and Blood of Christ is the most sacred thing in this world we should be worthy to take and received Him. When you are in a state of mortal sin you become unworthy to receive God because you choose to be separated from God’s love. Only after receiving the Sacrament of Confession can you be clean of your mortal sin and once again be able to receive communion.
Until that time we are encourage to receive a Spiritual Communion by reciting this prayer:
“My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You.”
Our Lord said to Sr. Benigna Consolata: “Make as many Spiritual Communions as possible, to supply for the many Sacramental Communions which are not made. One every quarter of an hour is not enough. Make them shorter, but more numerous.”
