Pansit habhab. Lukban Longganisa. Quezon’s yema cake. Yet, more than any of these, what made the first weekend of April 2013 more intense and more beautiful in Lucban, Quezon is because of the CFC YFL Conference 2013.
The event is entitled, “Wildfire”, which anchors from the words our Lord Jesus himself said, “Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father” (John 14:12, NAB). The verse speaks of faith, doing works in faith, and faith working wonders, which would enable us to gain eternal life.
The first session, FIRE STARTER, happened on the first night, with ate Joy Aguila as speaker. It talked about Faith as a gift that is freely-given. And as Faith is a gift, it must be used; we have to respond to it, to give our “yes” to God, who has given us Faith. Lastly, Faith is a celebration, i.e., Faith is our life, without Faith we do nothing.
The second session, CATCH FIRE, was given by kuya Cocoi Javier during the second night. It focused on two words: Faith Works. Yet, faith is sometimes challenged but faith still prevails. The night ended with an Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and a commitment done on each one’s cross, a declaration that from this moment on, we will stand firm on our Faith for it always prevail.
The third and last session, WILDFIRE, was given on the third and last day by kuya Dylan Reyes. The sending-out session. It aimed to send out each and every YFL back to their areas as a fire of Faith. It empowered everyone that with Faith, we will set the world on fire. We do it by focusing and imitating God, by surrendering to Him, and by evangelizing in His Name.
E-Project (Evangelization Project) Fair happened during the afternoon of the second day. It highlights the programs that community have—Campus-based, High school-based, Live Pure Movement, Cool Catholics, Work With the Poor, 1:7 Creatives, Joyride Summer Missions–which we can maximize in order for us to do massive and new evangelization. As well, there are also fun booths with “minute-to-win-it” games and prizes.
Of course, sacraments will always be an integral part of our Catholic lives. The celebration of the Holy Mass was done every day of the event. The Sacrament of Reconciliation was also conducted during the second day, and so as counselling by our religious sisters.
This year’s conference was hosted by CFC FFL Lucena.
With Faith, we will set the world on fire!
