In this time of pandemic many people are lost because of what is happening in the world today. Some people are questioning God or directly asking Him where He is in these tough times. Some are having difficulty where to find security and assurance of hope that this crisis will end really soon. One of the saddest things is even those Christians who have witnessed the greatness of Christ seem to be hopeless and they turn their back to God which leads them to a situation where they have forgotten the beautiful plan of God and their destiny which is heaven. It is very timely that I was able to read and reflect on this book of Tito Frank entitled Greatness in Christ. This book is a profound reminder for those Christians struggling through life and who already had forgotten their worth as human beings and lost their life direction. I can attest to how powerful the content of this book is if we will truly live it out.
You are made in the image and likeness of God.
I’ve been hearing this bible verse every time I listen to a Chastity Forum, and I always tell this as well every time I give a talk, but while I was reflecting, the deeper meaning of this message dawned on me. I have to be holy as my Heavenly Father is holy; I have to be perfect as my Heavenly Father is perfect. I know myself and I am sinful and unworthy of His love but this reality does not hinder Him to call me and remind me to strive hard to be holy.
You as Christians have been called, chosen, appointed, anointed, equipped, sanctified and strengthened by God. You have been brought out of darkness into God’s marvelous light. God makes all things work for your good.
When I read this part of the book, I was humbled with the fact that God chose me even if I am sinful, unworthy and stubborn. He still chose me despite my dark past and regardless of how proud I am with my worldly lures and sins. Being called by God as a missionary is not an easy task and it is a lifetime journey of really saying Yes everyday to Him. God pulled me out in a situation where there is a possibility that I could easily lose my life for a useless way of living. Just like St. Paul despite his sinfulness and life struggles, God still chose him. God always talks to him and reminds him that He is destined for greatness.
You are assured of a future full of Hope.
I believed that I am destined for greatness. It is not because of all the good things that I am experiencing in my missionary life but more on the pains and sufferings for I know that these are part of the salvific plan of God in my life. I have to endure all hardships and life challenges. It is not about desiring the plan of God but desiring what God truly wants to happen in my life at the perfect time He plans it. Salvation through the cross gives all people a future full of hope.
When Jesus called you, chose you and commissioned you, he passed on His very own work to you, He enabled you to bring the glory that is His due. Jesus has destined you for greatness.
