In MV Speaks, Sharing

Friend, I honor you for your commitment! Thank you for choosing to stay in love with God. Thank you for staying in service.

“May your hearts be fully committed to the Lord our God, to live by His decrees and obey His commands, as at this day” 1 Kings 8:61a

Commitment is the dedication of self to someone or something that obligates an action. It requires love, sacrifice and total surrender. It is not fleeting, but is sustained even when things are tough. It is a decision that never changes.

The perfect model of true and total commitment is God. He, as a Creator, was committed to his creation (men). He promises that He will never leave nor forsake us. He is committed to saving, building and blessing our lives. Even when we continue to sin, and turn back from Him, we are forgiven endlessly – even when it means sacrificing His only begotten Son. Just as how committed God is to us, we are called to commit ourselves to Him as well. We, as God’s beloved, should keep His commandments in mind, heart and soul. We are to be committed to Him in prayer and service.

I have been serving God through Missionary Families of Christ Youth Ministry (formerly Couples for Christ – Youth for Family and Life) since 2014. In my six amazing years of service, I leaped for joy, experienced the most simple and extraordinary miracles. I had a lot of fun and learning. But it was not always like that, there were painful, difficult and doubtful moments where I questioned God “Why must these things happen?” There were even moments when I thought of giving up especially at times when school demands the most. However, in God’s grace, I stayed – solely because of my love for Him. This life is tough but I will forever choose this #LifeLikeNoOther with Jesus. This is the life my Divine Creator wants for me. This is the life I chose and will continue to choose.

Friend, I honor you! This path you took is great but is rough. God and all the Angels and Saints in heaven rejoice to see you still taking this path. It might get tougher, dear. But, hold on. Even in the most difficult and painful circumstances, keep choosing this path, keep choosing Jesus. Show up again and again. Keep praying, loving and serving even when you don’t feel like it. Keep going even when you fall, and if you fall, fall at the hands of Jesus. Continue to say Yes to God and say no to the world. That is commitment – the true measure of our love for God and where real growth will happen.  So, stay committed, be committed. “True love is not first love, true love is a love that has proven itself.” – Fr. Mike Schmitz.

“On this account I am suffering these things; but I am not ashamed, for I know in Him in whom I have believed and am confident that He is able to guard what has been entrusted to me until that Day.”
2 Timothy 1-12
