Buong Buhay, Habang Buhay, Kay Kristo!

This was the battle cry belted out by over 2,342 YFL members who rushed to the gates of the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig for the EXTREME Youthfest 2010 of CFC Youth for Family and Life.

Not even Manny Pacquiao’s monumental take down of Antonio Margarito could stop these young people from Metro Manila and the nearby Luzon provinces to afford an experience far beyond the ordinary.

The Youthfest opened with a Eucharistic Celebration presided by Fr. Marlo Abad, Archdiocese of Manila. As the lights shine down, music from the JBand electrified the whole arena, and Marku Caringal, YFL Mission Volunteer, led the whole community for the opening worship. Teased to a 1 minute countdown afterwards, the audience, already at the edge of their seats, was served with an explosive dance production number!

Hearts exhilarated that early in the day; no one could have predicted how powerfully God will speak through the sessions, taken from the community’s theme for the year, “The Almighty! Just & Righteous is He, Job 37:23.”

Extreme Love, the 1st session given by Kuya Cocoi Javier, CFC Kids for Family and Life International Ministry Coordinator, delved into God’s extreme love which required an extreme sacrifice – Jesus Christ on the cross. A sight to behold, each knee bended before the cross used in last year’s ROCK Youthfest, basking in the glory that awaits if only everyone is to follow Jesus Christ.

A personal testimony of God’s extreme love for her was delivered by Jonelle Junio, District of Novaliches; while Sam Fabie, District of Pasig, shared a realization of God’s glory in her life through redemptive suffering.

In the 2nd session, Extreme Life, imparted by Marion Causing, YFL Mission Volunteer, each one was challenged to give their extreme response to God: an extreme “Yes” to His will no matter what the costs are.

The highlight of the day came during the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament led by Fr. Armando Baranan, OFM Capuchin. Down on their knees, the whole arena fell silent, in awe of the greatness of God who rightly deserved the center stage.

Aside from all these, the afternoon fair of the Youthfest resembled a jamboree of sorts. Delegates were treated to a number of extreme challenges (No Pain No Gain, YFL All Out, For the Win, Defy Gravity, Just Smile and Think Big, to name a few) daring them to do the unthinkable. Equally exciting was the ISIKAT inside the gym where awe-inspiring performances were given by YFL groups from all over Metro Manila and near-by Luzon provinces.

Jogab De Leon, District of Novaliches, opened the afternoon segment with a worship. Additionally, the vibrant emcees for the day were Cluster Servants Julius Eguia, District of Parañaque, and Krizel Aguila, District of Lipa who led the whole crowd in excitement and shared passion to celebrate and honor God.

Capping of the EXTREME Youthfest was a passionate Praisefest led by Dylan Reyes, YFL Full Time Worker.

This was the EXTREME Youthfest 2010. A conference too overwhelming for words. The flurry of Facebook statuses and blogs (by YFL members) declaring how God moved in their lives that day is just the beginning of what each YFL soul desires: to live an EXTREME life for no other than God Himself.

** The Youthfest was supported by Coca Cola Bottlers Philippines, Enchanted Kingdom, Globe Telecom and Unilever Philippines.
