Just last December 8, on the feast day of the Immaculate Conception, my boyfriend for 6 years proposed to me. My heart is filled with joy. I know that it came from the joyful anticipation of God’s plan. I truly believed that it is one of the fulfilment of God’s promise in my life.
That made me reflect on how beautiful God’s plan is for us, we just need to wait for it. We learned through the season of Advent, that it is all about waiting for the coming of the Lord. Now, the waiting is over.
CHRIST IS BORN!
The angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were struck with great fear. The angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.”
(Luke 2:9-12, NAB)
This Christmas, we ought to focus on one thing: receiving God’s love by receiving Christ.
1. Christ is the fulfilment of God’s promise
God has fulfilled His promise to all of us 2000 years ago, when He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. His coming, brought joy when He was born. He is the joy of every human heart that receives Him. His birth is an extraordinary event. The one who is in the manger is our Redeemer and Savior. He has been born for us, to take up all our struggles and sins.
2. Christ comes
It is not just a remembrance of what happened 2000 years ago, according to Blessed Pope John Paul II and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, it is about an ever-continuous action that “God comes”. It is a living reality that He comes. It did not just happen in the past nor will it just happen in the future; rather it is a continuous present.
3. Christ is the reason of this season
Christ is the supreme manifestation of God’s love for all of us. He is the Reason of this Christmas season. It is not just about the gifts, parties, decors, etc. It is about the Incarnation, the enfleshing of Christ. He is the true gift to mankind. He is the ultimate Reason of this season.
4. Christ changes our lives
The challenge to all of us is to say “yes” like Mary did, to celebrate, and to proclaim God’s love. When we say “yes” to Him, have a personal relationship with Him, and proclaim Him to others, our lives will never be the same again. He truly makes a big difference in our lives and our world.
Christmas is all about Christ!
