In MV Speaks, Witness Corner

This Mission Volunteer Retreat has been a deeply personal and transformative experience for me. As a newcomer to this journey, I approached it with a mix of fear and uncertainty. Boarding the ship from Calapan to Batangas, I carried with me a heavy heart, filled with walls that seemed impenetrable to Jesus’ love. Yet, in His infinite mercy, He broke through those barriers and touched my soul in unexpected ways.

Throughout the retreat, every song, every prayer, and every conversation felt like a direct encounter with Jesus. His presence was undeniable, speaking to me in whispers of love and encouragement. Surrounded by fellow volunteers, I felt a sense of belonging and purpose that I hadn’t known before.

The household atmosphere during the retreat provided a safe space for me to open up and trust again. Surrounded by love and support, I felt my heart slowly opening to the grace of God.

After the retreat, conversations with other missionaries deepened my understanding of the Lord’s presence throughout our time together. Their stories inspired me, and the love shared among us ignited a fire within me to love others more deeply.

Every moment of the retreat was a gift, filled with God’s grace and mercy. The mass at Chapel in The Hill, Tagaytay City, was a particularly powerful experience, as I finally received the Holy Eucharist after a week of longing. In the quiet moments of prayer, I found solace and strength, surrounded by the sacred statues and stories of the saints.

I am amazed at how the Lord manages to love each of us, regardless of our differences. This challenges me to do the same—to love others as He loves us, unconditionally and without judgment. Additionally, witnessing the unity and dedication of The Heart Crusaders during the retreat has inspired me to embrace my role as a fool for Christ and to wholeheartedly commit myself to the mission ahead.

The Lord chose me in my most sinful and undeserving state. He was the first fool to trust this mission to someone as imperfect as me. Through His grace, I am reminded that it is not about my abilities or worthiness, but about His unwavering love and faithfulness.

This day marks my marriage with Jesus and with the mission. As I leave this retreat, I wear the ring of commitment—commitment to die for the church, for the mission, and for others, all for the sake of His love. May I always honor this sacred commitment and serve with humility and devotion, following in the footsteps of the ultimate Fool for us—our Savior, Jesus Christ.
