South Luzon. — A series of District Youth Conferences (DYC) has been celebrated in the different districts in the southern Luzon region. All DYCs were anchored from the community’s theme of the year from 2 Timothy 1:7-8 and in relation with the Year of the Laity. The DYCs rallied the youth to be modern day saints, martyrs, and warriors.
The South Luzon leg started with the district of Cavite, entitled “Layag“, which means to set sail, to go forth in this march for God. It was held last August 31, 2014 at the Theresian School of Cavite, Bacoor, with 395 participants.
After Cavite comes the DYC of Lucena, entitled “IStand“. Their DYC is a declaration of standing up for God as his witnesses. It was held last September 7, 2014 at the Sentro Pastoral Lucena, Quezon with 220 participants.
The third leg was at the district of Rizal last September 14, 2014 at the Villa Lorenza, Pililla, with 210 participants. Rizal’s conference was entitled “Unleashed“, that they wanted to empower the young to go out of their comfort zones and be who God wants them to be–saints, martyrs, warriors.
Next is Batangas’ DYC, entitled “GAOR“. “Gaor” is a local word in Batangas, a command which means “sulong!” or “forward!”, that was made into acryonym: “God’s Army of Revolutionaries”, and that says it all. It was held last September 28, 2014 at the SM City Batangas with 1,324 participants.
After Batangas is the district of Laguna with 500 attending participants last October 5, 2014 at the Laguna State Polytechnic University, San Pablo. The conference was entitled, “Frontliners“, which means to stand and stay in front of the battle for God; to be brave because it is in the frontlines that you get to see God’s greatness.
South Luzon has a total of 2,649 youths responding with a resounding “YES” to the challenge of becoming and being God’s radical saints, martyrs, and warriors.
